We offer our travelers an unforgettable hiking experience, walking on centuries-old routes from village to village. Unlike most operators, we use smaller, really traditional villages as home bases for our tours. We spend the night in family-run village rooms, have a morning coffee or a ‘raki’ with the locals, visit secret corners, and see and taste local produce.
We believe in walking as the best way to discover a place, so our travelers traverse the islands on foot, keeping road transfers to a minimum. However, they travel light with a small day-pack as luggage is transferred for them. Spending the night inland also allows for better route selections, and for truly going ‘off-the beaten track’.
Our guides are professional walking tours escorts, who really live and breathe in the Cyclades. In fluent English, they will give you ‘insider’ information on flora, fauna, geography, culture, and local traditions. Being local, they will prepare every single detail and add special touches in every route to ‘make the place come alive’ for you.
Our itineraries comprise more than ‘good hikes’: they offer travelers a ‘feel of the place’. Fun & ‘soft adventure’ parts are also included: swimming in fabulous beaches, scrambling on hillsides to discover ancient settlements and chapels, tracing the course of civilisation in archaeological sites (and in daily life), or even cave explorations with torches to marvel at the wonders of nature & man.
Finally, every WP tour is a gastronomic exploration. Everyday, we prepare gourmet picnics with fresh, traditional local produce and wine – small feasts in select locations with great ambiance! We visit wineries and local farms when possible and introduce you to traditional village cafés and well-chosen, family-owned tavernas, so you can try original Greek food & specialties and the best local wine!
Guided walking tours are for travelers who have an adventurous spirit, love to hike, explore nature, discover new cultures, share their experience with a group and care about making the world a better place through responsible tourism; and for those who find joy in stepping outside of their comfort zone and trying new things. They are also for a solo traveler who does not want to travel solo, but instead with an interesting group of people – and finally, for those who do not want to spend 10+ hours planning the trip of a lifetime.
Our tours are active, and involve a lot of walking, sometimes in high temperatures, or on uneven tracks and rocky terrain. Briefings are made prior to each walking day, however travelers should expect and be able to walk anywhere from to 10-15 km each day, depending on the tour. Our tour listings contain relevant information, but please also read our fitness page or contact us before booking. We welcome fitness inquiries, as we want to ensure that everyone on our tours is safe, and will be able to keep up with an active itinerary.
Our small groups (5-10 persons) offer the kind of genuine travel moments that you simply could never get on your own, while encouraging you to create lasting ties between fellow travelers. Solo travelers may explore without sacrificing the quality of the experience while forming lifelong bonds with strangers-turned-friends. For couples, travel experience is enhanced; one even gets access to experiences they would never be able to plan or enjoy by themselves. And all travelers are given the individual attention and assistance they may require.
Finally, one can be resourceful with a small group. We can better accommodate mixed abilities in the group, so that fitter or more adventurous group members can benefit from our in-depth route knowledge, and enjoy their walking holiday more.
The Cyclades consists of 56 inhabited isles that make exciting territory for walking, not just for the sake of their natural beauty, but also their stories. We are islanders and know them both from within. Whether you walk and explore in cosmopolitan Paros or wild Polyegos, in a mixed-group or privately, your guide will take you along routes known only to locals and introduce you to the island’s history, nature, culture and current life. Be they single island explorations or island combo tours, our group guided programmes are designed to offer you a sense of discovery and a ‘feel of the place’ as we know it. To whet your appetite, read more in our Walking the Cyclades page, as well as our travel articles on the Cyclades.

Walking Plus enshrines the concept of quality tourism with walking tours that take in Greece’s unique combination of sea, landscape, culture, history, and traditional agriculture.
It shows what enthusiasm, hard work, and organization can do with a great concept in a virtually virgin market.
